Avondale Foods, based in Co. Armagh is a family business, started by brothers Harry and Derek Geddis. Founded in 1965, the brothers initially grew vegetables for local markets and retailers. As the supermarkets grew in popularity, the company made a simple diversification into pre-packed vegetables to meet the consumers desire for a more convenient option. In the late 70s the company developed coleslaw which is now the biggest category within the company, along with side salads, soups, veg accomps and bakery products.
