The very best of Irish food and drink

Wildfolk

My business, Wildfolk Connemara, started off as a unique yoga retreat held here in Connemara. I am a chef with experience in holistic & nourishing cooking. I worked alongside another yoga teacher to create our wild retreats with a focus on using food and movement as a way to connect with each other and feel nourished in the mind and body. Once the pandemic started and in person events became impossible I started to focus on my range of chutneys, starting small by selling in a few local shops and gradually expanding. My inspiration for the range of chutneys came from growing up in Connemara with a small apple orchard and an abundance of apples every year. We would make a variety of preserves every year, to not waste any of the harvest, experimenting with flavours and spices to create delicious, jams, chutneys & vinegars. Last summer I also opened a small food truck (a 1970’s caravan which I converted) in Connemara, selling lots of cakes and treats, artisan coffee, cold-pressed juice and also doing pop-up dinners. I received great feedback for my food and even had a full page write up in popular food writer Aoife McElwain’s column in The Sunday Independent for one of my recipes. My products are unique as they contain a carefully curated selection of spices, sugar, apple cider vinegar & dates to make a perfectly balanced, delicious chutney!
